This 4 Hr. Basic Handgun Course is for new firearm owners, or those just interested in learning about firearms and firearms safety. Following USCCA's curriculum, topics cover Firearm Basics, Handling and Storage, Advanced Skills and Defensive Shooting Fundamentals, Gear & Gadgets, and it includes Hand’s-On Shooting on a Live Range. Attendees can use instructor-owned .22LR pistols/ammo. Eye & ear protection are available for use at no additional charge. Range fees and applicable taxes are included in price. Optional training and testing for a CA DOJ Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC) is available for an additional $25.

  • If available, a student owned firearm can be used in the range portion of the course with instructor approval. The handgun should be in proper shooting condition.
  • The ammunition should match the caliber of the firearm(s) used to qualify - contact NSP in advance if you are challenged securing ammunition.
  • All classes and training are for individuals who are not disqualified from possessing a firearm as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law. Individuals who have been convicted of a crime of violence are disqualified. Student must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. Citizen with a valid CA Driver’s License or DMV Identification Card, or Legal Resident with a Green Card in compliance with U.S. Federal ITAR Regulations.

This course is intended as starting points from which to build lifelong skills. The course is conducted in a traditional classroom and range setting.  The course fee includes the use of NSP provided .22 Cal. pistols and ammunition.
