A USCCA basics course designed for new gun owners and those wanting to learn the fundamentals of handgun safety, handling, and shooting fundamentals.
This 4 Hr. Basic Handgun Course is for new firearm owners, or those just interested in learning about firearms and firearms safety. Following USCCA's curriculum, topics cover Firearm Basics, Handling and Storage, Advanced Skills and Defensive Shooting Fundamentals, Gear & Gadgets, and it includes Hand’s-On Shooting on a Live Range. Attendees can use instructor-owned .22LR pistols/ammo. Eye & ear protection are available for use at no additional charge. Range fees and applicable taxes are included in price. Optional training and testing for a CA DOJ Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC) is available for an additional $25.
This course is intended as starting points from which to build lifelong skills. The course is conducted in a traditional classroom and range setting. The course fee includes the use of NSP provided .22 Cal. pistols and ammunition. In this course you will learn, train, and finish the course with a solid foundation on how to safety, ethically, and responsibly own and handle pistols.
Required for the Basics Class:
Optional: California Firearms Safety Certificate - Upon completion of the Basic Handgun Course, participants can optionally take the CA DOJ’s Firearms Safety Certificate (FSC) for $25.00. This FSC is required to purchase or transfer a firearm at a CA firearms dealer. The decision to pay and take the DOJ FSC test can be made while in the course. A pre-requisite of taking the FSC test is that the applicant is 18 years or older, and has a valid CA Driver’s License or DMV Identification Card.
